Preamble

The Connecticut Association of Licensed Private Investigators adopts the following Code of Ethics and charges all members with faithful observance as a compelling condition of membership.

Article I - A member will promote public respect and confidence by rendering efficient and dependable service. a member shall safeguard confidential information and exercise due care to prevent its improper disclosure. A member shall service all clients with honesty, integrity, and loyalty, and at all times maintain a professional demeanor.

Article II- A member will assure that all investigations are based upon truth, fact and honesty. All investigations will be conducted in an objective unbiased manner. The member shall be diligent when employing best efforts in all assignments, and insure service by employing proper and authorized personnel.

Article III- A member shall be knowledgeable of State and Federal laws pertaining to profession and will abide by those laws at all time.

Article IV- A member shall not act in matters involving conflicts of interest without appropriate disclosure and approval.

Article V- A member shall assist when necessary, law enforcement officers in the pursuit of their duties and other duly constituted authorities.

Article VI- A member shall not comment falsely and with malice concerning a colleague's competence performance or professional capabilities.

Article VII-A member shall refrain from improper and unethical solicitation of business. CALPI members shall use their membership solely as a means of professional development, not for purposes of sales or personal aggrandizement.

Article VIII-A member shall in the spirit of the organization, constantly endeavor to raise the standards of our profession , foster harmony and good will among the members, and to disseminate the true spirit of loyalty and patriotism.

Article IX-a member who knows, or has reasonable grounds to believe, that another member has failed to conform to CALPI Code of Ethics shall present such information to the Board of Governors.
